Re-oxidizing Service

I would like to offer my customers the opportunity to have their Melissa Gillespie Jewellery piece re-oxidized at anytime in the future, if they feel the need to refresh their piece of jewellery to have it looking new again.

The oxidized jewellery pieces in my online store have all been handmade using sterling silver that I have purposely blackened using a chemical process that essentially speeds up the natural tarnishing process. The oxidized layer that I have achieved is a surface finish only, which alters the look and appearance of the surface of the metal but is not permanent.

At some point during its lifetime, the oxidized layer may naturally begin to wear away to slowly reveal the shiny, sterling silver surface underneath. Just like all oxidized jewellery, the surface of your piece may gradually evolve and change over time depending on how the piece is worn and cared for by the individual.

If you aren't sure whether you piece needs to be re-oxidized, please send a detailed enquiry so I can assist you. In most cases I may request that you post the piece back to me so that I can assess it in person to determine whether it needs to be re-oxidized. If so, the customer will be responsible for choosing a safe courier or postal option to ensure that the piece is returned safely to me.

Re-oxidizing your jewellery piece should be a straight forward process, however may incur a small charge due to the process involved in stripping back the metal to its original condition and essentially starting the oxidization procedure again. The charge may also depend on whether the piece needs to be re-wrapped, if you have a wrapped piece of jewellery.

If you would like a quote for what it might cost to have your piece re-oxidized, or re-oxidized and re-wrapped with cotton thread, please send an email to melissa@mgjsa.com.au including your name, details about the piece, and proof of purchase by providing an invoice number (if possible). 

It may take 15 - 20 working days depending on which piece of jewellery is involved and what processes and materials are required. I will be in touch with you via email regarding its progress and dispatch date if it's going to take longer than anticipated.

Cleaning Service

I would like to offer my customers the opportunity to have their Melissa Gillespie Jewellery piece cleaned at anytime in the future, if they would like too. It would be my pleasure to clean and finish your piece of jewellery to bring it back to its original, shiny condition.

I do charge a small fee for my Cleaning Service but it depends on which piece of jewellery is involved and what processes are required. In most cases tarnishing on the surface of your jewellery will be the likely cause, in which case I would properly clean and polish your sterling silver piece to bring it back to it's sparkling new form.

Please email me for a quote about your specific piece of jewellery by sending a detailed email to melissa@mgjsa.com.au including your name, details about the piece, and proof of purchase by providing an invoice number (if possible). 

My Cleaning Service may not take long, but I do like to say approximately 15 - 20 working days just in case. If using this service the customer will be responsible for return postage by choosing a safe courier or postal option to have their piece returned safely to me for cleaning.
