Bangle Sizing

I enjoy making bangles and want you to choose the right one, so before making your selection please read the information below regarding my designs, and various tips that might help you to choose the correct size for yourself or a loved one.

MY DESIGNS

My unique Contemporary bangles are simple, practical and playful, and are currently available in three similar yet different bangle design options for you to choose from in my online store. All of my bangles are Made to Order and take approximately 10 working days to make and post safely.

Once an order has been placed, your bangle will especially be handmade for you from high quality 925 sterling silver round wire. Each individual piece of wire is shaped, soldered and created by hand with care and attention to detail. The shape of each wire bangle is not quite a perfect circle or oval, but more of a misshaped, oval design. The variations in the shapes and sizes of these wire bangles ultimately add a little character, with no two pieces being the same.

Each one of my bangle designs consist of five individual wire bangles that are all carefully linked and joined together so that they cannot be pulled apart. My Continuous Circle Bangles and Continuous Circle Bangles (with rings) are able to move and swing more freely around the wrist, whilst my Continuous Circle Stacked Bangle remains one solid piece of jewellery, with no moving parts.

Each one of my bangle designs are available to order in Small, Medium or Large sizes and are all measured and handmade using their internal diameter. The internal diameter refers to the widest point, or the largest internal diameter of the inside of each wire bangle.

All Bangles are available to order in 3 different sizes:

Small – approximately 60mm  (internal diameter)
Medium – approximately 65mm (internal diameter)
Large – approximately 70mm (internal diameter)

Bangle size is determined by the size of your hand and not the size of your wrist, so you may want to read some tips on how to measure the size of your hand. Because my bangle designs must be able to fit over the wearers hand an accurate measurement could be imperative to the particular size bangle you order. For more information about how to measure your hand for a new bangle, please see my Sizing Tips below.

SIZING TIPS

If the bangle is for yourself, there are a few different ways to measure the size of your hand to ensure the bangle fits you well:

  • Probably the most successful way to ascertain your bangle size is to fold the hand you wish to wear the bangle on inward in a way that your thumb and little finger come close together, or simply pretend you are putting on an imaginary bangle by squeezing those two fingers inward toward the centre of your hand. Hold that position whilst using a ruler to carefully measure along the widest part of your hand. A general rule is to measure from the centre of your index finger’s knuckle to the centre of your little finger’s knuckle. Remember to measure in millimeters to ensure accuracy. This measured amount is the interior diameter, or internal diameter of your correct bangle size. For example, if you measure 6.5cm across the face of your knuckles then the bangle to order should be 65mm in diameter or furthermore, my Medium size bangle option. If the measurement falls between two sizes, then choose the larger size bangle.
  • If you have an existing bangle at home, you could also measure the inside diameter with a ruler to gauge what size to order. Always try to measure the bangle’s internal diameter in millimeters to ensure accuracy. The inside diameter does not include the walls of the bangle but the space inside the bangle.
  • If you don’t have a bangle at home you could visit a second hand shop to measure or purchase a cheap bangle, or ask to borrow a bangle from a family member or friend to gain a better idea of what size you might need to order.
  • You could also visit your local retail jewellery outlet to have your wrist measured professionally with calibrated bangle sizing rings, keeping in mind the thickness of the bangles and the difference between round and oval fit styles.

If the bangle is for somebody else, it makes your job a whole lot harder, but here are a few tips that might help you select the right one:

  • If you know the person you are surprising has a bangle at home, you could ask somebody they live with to measure the inside diameter of their bangle for you in millimeters without them knowing.
  • You could approximate the size of their bangle by taking note of the size of their hands and knuckles in comparison to yours.
  • If you aren’t sure of what bangle size to select, the safe option might be to settle on the standard size bangle for women which is 65mm in diameter.
  • If you are unsure of what size bangle to order your beloved someone, another option could be to purchase a Gift Card for the same amount of the price of the bangle and let them measure their own hand size to ensure it fits them well. I would be more than happy to assist you with a personalized Gift Card, and also help your loved one with the bangle ordering process should you want to go down this path.
  • Lastly, if you are completely unsure of which size to select for somebody from my small, medium or large bangle size options available, please don’t hesitate to send me an email with a detailed enquiry so I can assist you further.

BANGLE SPECIAL ORDERS

Alternatively, I do offer Bangle Special Orders to customers who would genuinely love a bangle from my online store, but wish to order a specific bangle size outside of my standard Small, Medium or Large size options.

To order a bangle in a specific size, I would require the exact measurement in millimeters of your own hand, or that of a loved one by using the first method highlighted above to ascertain the correct hand size. To do this, simply use a ruler to measure along the widest point of your knuckles, from the centre of your index finger, to the centre of your little finger. Remember to fold the hand you wish to wear the bangle on inward in a way that your thumb and little finger come close together. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about measuring your hand for a new bangle.

Bangle Special Orders could take up to 15 - 20 working days to be especially handmade for you, and do not incur an extra fee. If you have any questions about my bangle designs, or bangle sizing tips please let me know. Or, if you would like to enquire about a Bangle Special Order please don't hesitate to get in touch! I would only be to happy to help...
